How would I go about syncing my facebook contacts with my Android contacts? Specifically, I would like to sync facebook portraits with my phone. I am running 1.6 Donut and would like find a solution that will carry through when i get my FroYo upgrade hopefully later this month.

Turns out that FroYo has built in contact syncing with Facebook via the Facebook app.

There is a gem of an app called Facebook Sync that's free and works from 1.6-2.1 apparently. I haven't tried it but it may be worth a look?

OK this actually is simple there are two ways to do so first you need to download Facebook from the market. After successfully installing the app to the phone you then need to open the application and press menu and then hit settings now if your on a none sense phone you should see sync all contacts or sync existing contacts check the one that you prefer and then let it work its magic. Now, if you do indeed have sense you will need to go into contacts and manually click on every contact and you will see an icon in the upper right hand corner click it and it will give you the option to link the existing contact to an Facebook account and just do that for the contacts you want to sync and your good.

Unfortunately the default Facebook contact sync ONLY WORKS with Android devices running 2.0 and up. Your solution works for people running Elcair or Froyo, but it does not answer the original asker's question (They are running Android 1.6)

I have tried and tried on Accounts and Sync and nothing. Then i randomly went to people, pressed menu, view, and selected Facebook for HTC with a number beside it (that number was the number of friends on my facebook.) And presto! Had my contacts on my phone. Hope this helps someone.
